Brace Case

You've got to admire her patriotism.

Rachael Flatt, junior world champion, has gotten red, white, and blue bands on her braces to support the athletes competing in Beijing. I was never able to get braces as a child, but the use of rubber bands as an accessory always intrigued me. From The Gazette.com:

Flatt has gotten colors on the braces she's worn for about a year to match her outfits for skating competitions, and she decided to go patriotic for the Fourth of July and the Olympics. The American Association of Orthodontists latched on to the bubbly skater as a spokesmodel for its Band Together campaign, inviting all brace faces to ask their orthodontists for the ol' red, white and blue during the Beijing Games.

Flatt is hoping to get her braces off this winter.
