Does Emanuel Sandhu Think He Can Dance?
I saw this blog that pointed out that Canadian National Champion Emanuel Sandhu passed his first audition for "So You Think You Can Dance? (Canada)" Here is the Youtube link. Those who have watched Sandhu skate would not be surprised to hear that he has ballet training.
The man threw a triple axel. AWESOME. He was very graceful as well. But there was a very cheesy "I need to fan myself because I'm so hot" move that one of the judges rips apart...rightfully so! (In his defense, he says it was a joke). But he made it past the first audition and I hope that someone keeps posting his additional dances!

Oh geez…so this is what he’s been up to! Good lord, it’s right up his alley. What did that judge say, “I sense a little Prima Donna in him.” A little?
Hahahahaha, Emanuel is one of my favorites so I wish him luck…but should he lose I hope he gets back on the ice!

Ha!
I remembered how much you like him so I thought of you when I was doing this post. Sounds to me like he still really loves skating (and obviously performing!) so hopefully he will be back on the ice soon…

I cannot believe that he did not make the top twenty. the
judges are soooo stupid for not putting him through.
they said to him that he should go train for a year then
come back but its like “ok.. hes kind’ve been training
his ENTIRE LIFE!”
anyways, i have now completely lost interest in the show.

Hey, I watched them kick Sandhu off of the dance show. Ithought it was pretty pathetic that while they kicked him off they didn’t show any his dances on the same night, I wonder why that would be??!? HOw do youkick someone off and not allow the rest of the nation to see his performance that he was kicked off for?!? I thought he was better that many of the dancers… but I guess they felt they didn’t want him stealing the show. Well I know now the show is BS so , I won’t bother watching it. I watched the American version to the end but I can’t be bothered with this one, they are obviously not basing their decisions on who’s the most talented.

He’s a terrific dancer and of course the triple axel was beyond impressive. In the elimination phase the judges obviously look at more then just ability. Emanuel is so obnoxiously arrogant and came across with a very inappropriate attitude. I cannot envision him working with partners and had he made the top 20 I would expect that the public would have voted him off very quickly once he was interviewed a couple of times. He has always looked down his nose at others and he makes no effort to hide that fact.
It’s likely too bad that Emanuel’s website claims that he’s ranked 2nd in the world at the moment when he hasn’t even been ranked for the past year and hasn’t been ranked higher then 7th since 2005. Even judges can google and Sandhu’s record of choking and inconsistancy is legend. His site claims that he’s planning to return for the 2010 Olympics and yet he claimed that he’d put his skating on hold to compete in SYTYCD.
Despite his site’s bravado I don’t expect that we will ever see him compete again. He’s 27 now. He’ll be amost 30 in time for the Olymics and he has been out of competition for a very long time. His highest placing at World’s was 5th and his last effort placed him in 13th in 2007.
With how frequently Sandhu caved under pressure as a skater I don’t expect that he’d do any differently in dance. How well do you think he would do when forced to perform in areas that are totally out of his comfort zone?
Don’t get me wrong. I admire his talent and the beauty of his skating. I cried a lot of tears, year after year as he showed so much promise and then choked when the time came to do what he can do so well. It broke my heart and the hearts of so many of his fans.
It’s a shame but I think it’s too late for him even for SYTYCD. He needed to learn a bit of humility long before this and I don’t expect that he ever will.
