Staviski Sentenced

Two-time ice dancing world champion Maxim Staviski was sentenced yesterday by a Bulgarian court for a fatal drunk driving accident, in which he left one man dead and a woman severely injured. Staviski received two-and-a half years in prison for the accident. He won the ice dancing world titles with partner Albena Denkova in 2006 and 2007. The sentence was originally suspended, according to Sofia News Agency, but the judge changed it. Staviski's alcohol level was more than double the legal limit. Staviski has also had to pay the crash victims' parents various sums of money.
