Sasha Cohen Withdraws From Skate America
Sasha Cohen has withdrawn from her scheduled Grand Prix event this weekend, Skate America, citing the tendinitis that forced her to withdraw from Trophee Eric Bompard last month per the Associated Press. On the bright side, American and 2006 Olympian Emily Hughes has been chosen to replace Cohen, so we'll see what she's got heading into the Olympic year.
I wonder if this is the nail in the coffin of Cohen's Olympic year comeback. There are still two months until Nationals but by then Cohen will not have competed in front of judges for nearly four years.

Cohen’s withdrawal from Skate America should be the nail in her coffin. With all the other ladies – many virtual ununknowns – who could make the USFS proud, why we have to be subjected to the posturing and pouting of Sasha Cohen is beyond me. She should never have received a bye – the very least USFS should have done was require her to skate at sectionals.

We should have to deal with her pouting and posturing because she is the only girl that is capable of medaling in Vancouver. Wake up – despite her obvious inconsistency, she’s been star quality since 2000. She deserves one more shot.
