Evgeny Plushenko Withdraws from World Championships
Wow - Olympic silver medalist from Vancouver Evgeny Plushenko has withdrawn from the upcoming world championships in Torino, Italy. Details are minimal at this point, although USA Today reports that Plushenko's doctor has advised him to take a two-week break from skating. Plushenko deals with chronic injuries so perhaps it is related to that.
This really blows the world championships wide open - who is going to be able to jump in and seize the gold? It shoudl be exciting. I wonder if Plushenko is considering another temporary retirement until the 2014 season?

Wish Johnny Was There
So, who is going to be there? Takahashi and Oda? I can’t remember if Joubert dropped out or not. I’m really sad Johnny pulled out, even though many won’t be there it would have been great to cap off his season with a world medal. He would have a great chance. Then again, I’d love to see Daisuke on the top of the podium. He’s just glorious.

Up for grabs
Jeremy Abbot, Adam Rippon. Sharpen your skates.
Takahashi!
I hope Takahashi wins the gold! I’m also rooting for Jeremy Abbot and Takahiko. I am not a big fan of Patrick Chan. I don’t follow his performances regularly, but I am never really impressed with his skating…it is just nothing special.
