According to CNNgo, a cyber attack is being blamed on the Yu-Na Kim/Mao Asada rivalry:

"And lo and behold, Japanese BBS 2ch suffered a massive cyber attack on March 1 from what was later identified as Korean web users. Timed to coincide with the March 1 national holiday celebrating Korea's 1919 rebellion against its colonial overlord Japan, Korean netizens banded together to silence 2ch after a thread on the site offered comments suggesting that Kim had bribed the judges. A clip from NTV claiming that Mao should have had a higher score also is believed to have fueled the Korean anger."

Sadly, it's not the first time cyber attacks have been linked to this skating rivalry. Such a crazy escalation of a fanbase rivalry!

Korea Vs. Japan

Those two countries have a long historical argument. Sounds like the Korean netizens were well prepared this time and itching for an excuse. Meantime Mao and Yuna have to face off again in Torino. So ironic that two such sweet natured women are being used as the excuse for this kind of rank nationalism. Plushenko isn’t helping either by taking sides. The new judging system has been condemned for valuing jumps over artistry, but now that two gold medals were awarded for the best overall performances it’s being criticized for slighting athleticism. Oh figure skating, how is it that the most serene of sports can create so much heat?

Mao and Yuna

It’s a good thing though that neither Mao nor Yuna have said anything about all this. In fact I hope they say something to their fans to cut the crap out.

Now if Miki or Rocket had won I wonder if the fans would be arguing like this because Queen Yuna won silver over Mao’s pitiful bronze…
