Meeting Kristi Yamaguchi
In 1992, I fell in love with figure skating, as I started watching Kristi Yamaguchi compete and get ready for the Olympics. We're both from the SF Bay Area, and I just loved watching her on TV. There were also few Asian role models in sports at the time, so I was fascinated.
Last week, Sprinkles Cupcakes held a promotion in conjunction with Kristi's Always Dream Foundation, where the proceeds from their Red Velvet cupcake sales (their BEST cupcake) would benefit the foundation. On top of that, you could also meet Kristi (and Candace, the founder of Sprinkles) at their store in Palo Alto, CA.
Pictures after the jump!
I went during my lunch break, so I was a bit disheartened when I saw the line:

I arrived at 12:10pm, and I gave myself a mental "get out of line by this time" time.

She's right there! YEEE SO CLOSE.
Luckily, I managed to get inside and the line moved at slightly less than a glacial pace. Everyone kept chatting with Kristi and Candace, which made it frustrating for those of us who needed to get back to work...

SUCCESS!!!
Also, that picture I'm holding?

Kristi signed it for me! She was signing everything. Kristi is so nice! It's from her DWTS appearance, week 2, the Mambo. I got the picture from a very nice person in line behind me, after I told him that I recently had to toss out all my old programs (sigh) and I wish I still had some with me so that she could have signed them. Thanks nice guy!

The topper on one of the two cupcakes I purchased. Always Dream!
Kristi was super nice to everyone, and so friendly. Best lunch break ever!

This is great!
I’m so glad you got in to meet her! Thanks so much for the photos and the recap. Johnny Weir is in town today but apparently you have to spend $75 to meet him so I think I’ll pass, heh. I would love to meet Kristi, though. Glad it was fun.
