Finnish skater Susanna Poykio has decided to retire from skating, primarily because of lower back troubles. She has stated that she will concentrate on her studies. Poykio is an five-time Finnish champion.

Olympic gold medal-winning ice dancer Sergei Ponomarenko has been arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the Morgan Hill Times.

A few days ago, it was reported that U.S. National bronze medalist Ashley Wagner has withdrawn from the junior world championships. She is being replaced by Kiri Baga, who came in fourth in the junior nationals.
