Here is a somewhat odd story from Mercury News about how people are comfortable strolling around the town of Los Gatos, California, while wearing their spandex workout clothes. Often the citizens are fresh from workouts and have not yet showered. "No matter that their hair is a bit sticky, their armpits a bit ripe," according to the article.
So, what does sweaty Los Gatos have to do with us? Well, it just so happens that Olympic Gold Medalist and wine entrepreneur Peggy Fleming was the prime quote in the article.
"It's a sign that you're living life to the fullest,'' Fleming says. "You're busy. You're active. You take care of yourself. You have a cool car. You live down the street and have a tiny expensive home. You're productive. You're a Super Mom. You're juggling all those roles and it shows you have everything.''
When the 60-year-old Fleming isn't busy helping husband Greg Jenkins in their downtown shop selling wine from grapes grown in their back yard, she may be off running or lifting weights to keep in shape.
I'm impressed with Peggy Fleming on so many levels, including her willingness to admit that she doesn't always shower before strolling through town after a workout.
