American National Ice Dance Champs Meryl Davis and Charlie White have won the Four Continents Championship, ahead of their training mates Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir (who were favored to win). The competition may have come down to a slight bobble Virtue made during a spin. The Americans won by less than a point.
According to this Icenetwork article, Virtue is still having a lot of pain in her shins, and the couple's program was a bit lackluster, possibly because they have barely performed it in public since they took off the first half of the season due to Virtue's recovery. That is some cause for concern but there's still more than a month to the World Championships next month in Los Angeles.
In another victory for the American ice dancing team, Emily Samuelson and Evan Bates got the bronze over Canadians Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier.
