US Wins World Team Trophy

The United States won the first ever ISU World Team Trophy competition that concluded in Tokyo this weekend. The team pitted six nations against each other. The US won with 60 points, while Canada had 54, Japan had 50, France had 37, Russia had 35 and China 34.

Mao Asada of Japan won the ladies competition. Americans Caroline Zhang and Rachael Flatt were third and fourth, respectively, and Zhang completed a triple/triple for credit (she's pretty much the only American lady getting credit for those lately!).

In pairs, Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett dropped to fourth, with uncharacteristic jump downgrades on Barrett's part. It's surprising to hear since they've been so clean this season!
