Here are the first results out of Cup of China's first day.
China's Shen and Zhao lead in pairs. China's Zhang and Zhang shockingly find themselves down in fourth place. I haven't watched yet but this should be interesting.

I saw the men; I agree with the placements, although I will need to take a look at the judge's scores because I don't see how Japan's Nobunari Oda received higher technical scores than Russia's Sergei Voronov, who appeared to complete a quad and some other beautiful jumps. But I think Oda outskated Voronov on a whole. America's Evan Lysacek was very good as well but he lacked a bit of speed in his program (which I liked, and obviously the judges disagreed about the speed cause he got the highest program components scores of the three), and his jumps weren't as good as the two ahead of him. That's a great program components score for Lysacek though.

Also, I am officially reporting the ladies results under protest. The judges have quite the sense of humor putting Kiira Korpi in second place with one of the UGLIEST combinations I have seen today. I would definitely have (at least) Italy's Carolina Kostner (who had a nice skate) and Japan's Akiko Suzuki ahead of her. It was a successful day and a great skate for America's Mirai Nagasu. Rachael Flatt was not looking as good as I expected her to, and I didn't love her performance as much as I expected to. And Canada's Joannie Rochette had a disastrous short program. She popped a triple and bailed on her combination as well.
