European Championships: Ladies Final

The European Championships quietly concluded last weekend with the ladies free skate.  Carolina Kostner of Italy took the crown - not sure what this means for her Olympics but it was definitely quite a breakthrough victory for her.  Finland's Laura Lepisto was in second, while Georgia's spunky Elene Gedevanishvili was in third.

Russia's Alena Leonova was way down in seventh, it appears she peaked early in the season.  I would place the European ladies on par with the Americans in the terms of medal threats at the Olympics...I would expect they'll have to capitalize on the errors of Yu-na Kim, the Japanese skaters, or Joannie Rochette.
