The French national skating championships took place this weekend. In the men's event, Brian Joubert stopped the juggernaut that is Florent Amodio and won his seventh national title. It should be noted, however, that Amodio won the free skate and was not able to win the title because he made multiple errors in the short program. Alban Preaubert placed third, so no major shake-ups there.
In the ladies division, Yretha Silete, who had a promising season on the junior Grand Prix, won her first nationals. She was followed by Lenaelle Gilleron-Gory and Mae-Berenice Meite. Former national champion Candace Didier was in sixth place.
In ice dancing, there was no match for Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat. They won the gold while Pernelle Carron and Lloyd Jones came in second.
In pairs, Adeline Canac and Yannick Bonheur won their first national championship together; they only began skating together this season after splitting with other partners. For more coverage, see Icenetwork.
