The 2010 Olympic Winter Games lost NBC $223 million, according to Entertainment Weekly via the Associated Press. Apparently, this was a smaller loss than the projected $250 million NBC expected.
The games brought in $800 million in revenue and the ratings were up by 14 percent over the 2006 Olympics. They better keep airing them! If the Olympics are not televised, do they even happen? Actually, judging by the number of figure skating competitions that are not televised, I suppose the answer is yes.
