Joannie Rochette to Skip Grand Prix

Universal Sports reports that Olympic bronze medalist Joannie Rochette will skip the next Grand Prix season.  It is unclear whether Rochette will compete in the Canadian nationals next season.

According to The Globe and Mail, Joannie Rochette is likely to sit out the upcoming Grand Prix season. Following her skate to Olympic bronze just days after the death of her mother, Rochette has not let up - from touring worldwide to countless appearances at everything from fashion shows to horse races.

Rochette plans to regroup in the fall and will consider competing at the Canadian Championships in early 2011.

In further Canadian skater news, two-time world silver medalist Patrick Chan plans on matriculating at a college in fall of 2011 and is checking out his options now.
