Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek has been named a winner of the Thurman Munson award. Accordingto Chicago Breaking Sports, the award recognizes athletes for excellence on and off the field, charitable work and community involvement. It is named for late Yankee Thurman Munson.
In other news, Lysacek is (obviously? officially?) skipping the national championships this season, according to the New York Times. As with other skaters, Lysacek's involvement with Stars on Ice was a tipoff, as well as the fact that there has been no indication that he is training new competition programs.
