Mroz Makes History

The International Skating Union has officially recognized Brandon Mroz's quadruple lutz jump, making it the first quadruple lutz completed in competition.  Congratulations to Mroz!

Mroz landed the jump last month at the 2011 Colorado Springs Invitational, which is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.  After Mroz landed the jump, U.S. Figure Skating requested that the ISU recognize it.

Congratulations to Mroz for being the one to finally land a completely rotated (and cleanly landed) quad lutz.  He was smart to use the Colorado Springs Invitational as the testing ground because other skaters are working on quad lutzes this season.  Mroz will always be the first.

And here it is.
