Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek has won the AAU Sullivan Award for the top amateur athlete in the U.S.  He was named winner last night in a ceremony in New York, and cited Sarah Hughes, also an Olympic gold medalist and past winner of the award.

Lysacek was earlier named U.S. Olympic Committee male athlete of the year.  It has been quite a year for the figure skater.

From Sports Illustrated:

The Sullivan Award has been handed out since 1930 to the most outstanding U.S. amateur athlete of the year based on athletic accomplishments, leadership skills, character and sportsmanship.
