World champion Miki Ando of Japan has decided to sit out the Grand Prix this season. Her new programs are not complete and, according to the Japan Times, she's not even thinking about next season at all right now. It's been rumored that she would take the whole season off, so we'll see what decision she makes as the year goes on.
I cannot even imagine who would take her place as the dominant skater this year. I wonder if Yu-na Kim will somehow decide to participate in the Grand Prix but for some reason, I doubt it.
