Olympic gold medalist Kim Yu-na has not competed since the 2011 world championships but she is planning on competing in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. According to press outlets, Kim plans to retire from competition after Sochi.
Per Wall Street Journal:
During the press conference on Monday, Kim said she overcame the pressure by talking to herself, "If I give up my career as a skater simply because I fear I won't show my best performance, I would be really sorry later in life," she said. Watching and practicing with younger skaters over the past year also gave her motivation to restart, she added.
There does not appear to be any news about whether she will be back this season to compete in the last world championships before the Sochi Olympics.
